Explorando Perú
Dear friends,
I hope this message finds you well. I am excited to share with you a special story that I have written for the YouTube channel, inspired by the travels and rich traditions of Peru.
The protagonist of our story is Ana, an adventurer who decides to explore the wonderful landscapes and vibrant culture of this country.
Throughout her journey, Ana discovers stunning places, from the mysterious ruins of Machu Picchu to the vast beauty of Lake Titicaca.
But what makes her journey unique are not only the places she visits but also the people she meets along the way.
Through her eyes, we experience the warmth and wisdom of the locals, who teach Ana about their traditions and ways of life.
Each encounter is a valuable lesson about respect, community, and connection with nature. Ana's story is an invitation to all of us to explore, learn, and, above all, to open our hearts to new experiences.
I hope you enjoy watching this adventure as much as I enjoyed writing it.

When the plane lands in Lima, the capital, Ana feels the warm sun. She is happy to be here. Lima is a big city with lots of people and tall buildings. Ana takes out her map and starts to explore.
First, Ana goes to the Plaza Mayor in Lima. It's an important place with many old and beautiful buildings. People walk and talk in the streets. Ana sees vendors selling food and souvenirs. She takes photos to remember this place.
In Lima, Ana tries ceviche for the first time. It's a dish made of fish with lemon, onion, and chili. Ana likes it very much. It's very different from the food in her country. She thinks the food in Peru is special.
Ana meets some students in Lima. They are kind and teach her words in Quechua, a language from Peru. Ana learns to say "thank you" in Quechua, which is "solpayki". She is happy to learn something new.
Then, Ana travels to Cusco. Cusco is in the mountains. It is an ancient and very beautiful city. There are many stone houses and streets. In Cusco, the air is fresh and the sky is very blue.
Ana visits a market in Cusco called Mercado de San Pedro. There are many things to see and buy. Ana sees fruits, vegetables, and handmade items like hats and bags. She buys a wool hat because it is very beautiful.
After visiting the market, Ana decides to explore more of Cusco. She walks through the streets and sees many old churches. People in Cusco are very kind. They smile at Ana and some say "hello". Ana feels happy and welcome in this city.
One day, Ana decides to go see the ruins of Sacsayhuamán, which are near Cusco. They are very large and ancient. Ana learns that the ruins were part of an Inca fortress. She looks at the huge stones and wonders how they were placed there so many years ago. It's a mysterious and beautiful place.
Then, Ana hears about the Sacred Valley of the Incas. She decides she wants to visit it. The Sacred Valley has rivers, mountains, and many important archaeological sites. Ana takes a bus there. During the trip, she sees very beautiful landscapes with green mountains and blue sky.
In the Sacred Valley, Ana visits a place called Pisac. Pisac has a large market where Ana buys some gifts for her family. There are also Inca ruins in Pisac. Ana climbs to see the ruins and from above, the view of the valley is amazing. Ana feels like she is truly on an adventure.
After Pisac, Ana goes to Ollantaytambo. This place also has Inca ruins. Ana learns that Ollantaytambo was very important for the Incas. She walks among the ruins and visits the ancient warehouses where the Incas stored their food. Ana is impressed by everything she sees.
Ana knows that the next place she wants to visit is very special. It's called Machu Picchu. To get to Machu Picchu, Ana has to take a train and then a bus. She is very excited to see one of the wonders of the world.
With great excitement, Ana finally arrives at Machu Picchu early in the morning. The view of the ancient city, with its stone constructions among the misty mountains, is breathtaking.
Ana feels a deep connection with history as she walks through the ruins, imagining how people lived here hundreds of years ago. The place is magical, full of mystery and beauty. Ana sits to look at the landscape, grateful for the opportunity to be in such a special place.
After her visit to Machu Picchu, Ana decides to explore more of Peru. Her next stop is Arequipa, known as the "White City" for its impressive buildings made of sillar, a white volcanic stone.
Arequipa is surrounded by volcanoes, and Ana is amazed by the view of Misti, an active volcano that dominates the landscape. She visits the Monastery of Santa Catalina, a peaceful and colorful place, with narrow streets and courtyards full of flowers. Ana feels peace as she walks through the monastery, admiring its vibrant blue and orange walls.
Continuing her journey, Ana travels to Puno, located on the shores of Lake Titicaca, the highest navigable lake in the world. Here, Ana has the opportunity to visit the famous floating islands of the Uros. The islands are made of totora, a plant that grows in the lake. The Uros, the inhabitants of the islands, build everything with totora: their houses, boats, and even the islands themselves.
Ana is fascinated by the way the Uros live in harmony with nature. She takes a ride on one of the totora boats, enjoying the tranquility of the lake and the kindness of its people.
Ana also explores Taquile, an island in Lake Titicaca known for its textiles. The men on the island weave hats and belts, while the women weave blouses and shawls.
Ana learns that in Taquile, the art of weaving is passed down from generation to generation, and is an important part of their culture. She buys a woven hat as a souvenir, admiring the vivid colors and complex designs.
Every place Ana visits in Peru teaches her something new about the culture, history, and beauty of the country. She is grateful for each experience and for all the kind people she has met along the way.
After her unforgettable experience in Puno and Lake Titicaca, Ana heads to the city of Trujillo in northern Peru, known for its pre-Columbian archaeological sites and colorful colonial architecture.
She visits Chan Chan, the largest pre-Columbian mud-brick city in the Americas, fascinated by the complexity and detail of its constructions. Ana feels that each place she visits reveals more about the rich tapestry of cultures that make up Peru.
In Trujillo, Ana also marvels at traditional dances during a local festival. She sees dancers dressed in bright costumes, moving to the rhythm of Peruvian music. It's an explosion of color, music, and joy that captures the essence of the Peruvian spirit. Ana can't help but join in the dance, feeling once again the warmth and welcome of the people of Peru.
As her last stop on her trip, Ana visits the Paracas National Reserve, a wildlife sanctuary on the south coast of Peru. She is struck by the natural beauty of the place, with its red sand beaches, cliffs overlooking the Pacific Ocean, and a diversity of marine life that includes sea lions, penguins, and a multitude of birds.
On a boat ride around the Ballestas Islands, locally known as the "little Galapagos", Ana contemplates the mysterious figures etched in the sands, wondering about the stories they hold.
At the end of her journey, Ana feels deeply moved and enriched by all the experiences she has had in Peru. She has seen natural wonders, explored ancient ruins, enjoyed delicious food, learned about cultural traditions, and most importantly, met extraordinary people who have made her trip unforgettable.
Sitting on the beach, watching the sunset over the Pacific, Ana reflects on her journey. She feels a mix of gratitude, awe, and a bit of sadness at the thought of leaving Peru. However, she also feels the excitement of anticipation for what's to come. She decides that, after a well-deserved rest, her next adventure will be in Chile.
She imagines the mountains, glaciers, and vineyards that await her. But for now, she takes a moment to simply be present, thankful for every experience, every encounter, and every discovery she has had in Peru. Ana knows these memories will stay with her always, and she smiles thinking about the stories she will tell and the adventures that are yet to come.
